Foreign Body Removal Surgery refers to a procedure to surgically extract previously injected or implanted substances such as:
- HA (Hyaluronic Acid) filler
- Fat filler (autologous or allogenic fat grafts)
- Silicone rings or implants
These materials may need to be removed due to:
- Inflammation or infection
- Unwanted or asymmetrical appearance
- Migration or hardening of the material
- Patient dissatisfaction or complications over time
What the Surgery Involves:
- The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia depending on the case.
- The surgeon carefully locates and removes the foreign material.
- In some cases, complete removal may not be possible if the material has dispersed or adhered to surrounding tissues. Basically, depending on the type of foreign material and integreation rate, 100% removal may be difficult.
Recovery:
- Swelling and bruising may occur and typically resolve within 3–4 weeks.
- Follow-up care is essential to monitor healing and prevent recurrence.
Note: Revision or reconstructive procedures may be considered after removal for aesthetic restoration if needed.
